So Im doing some research for my novel SOUTHERN STAR. It´s about a former child beauty queen now turned country singer who comes back to confront her mother, her stolen childhood and runs in to the teen crush who she dedicated her nr 1 hit song to.
Im just watching documentary's on YouTube about child beauty pageants so I can get more understanding of it and the world around it. Maybe I´ll watch some Toddlers & Tiaras and Honey Boo Boo, just maybe....
As I watch documentary's and clips I take notes and I can see my heroine Charlie's childhood in front of me. Research is important when writing a novel. I hope and maybe plan to write this next month when this years Nanowrimo begins.

I guess Honey Boo Boo aka Alana and Eden Wood are the most famous of the pageant girls...I just have to say I like Honey Boo Boo, you either like her or don´t.
I feel so sorry for them girls dressed up like dolls. And the pushy mothers... living their dreams trough their children's. There are moms on the shows like Toddler & Tiara´s that say they do it for the girls. They are having fun. Okay??!! Please just let them be kids. But I think It is sad anyways. I feel sorry for these girls.
I want to see if I can catch the ups and downs with this so called "sport". I am in no way support these pageants. I just think it is an interesting subject to write about.
